Hookin2Hockey Is Starting Soon

School Hockey Roadshows

The 2023 program of Roadshows is underway, setting the Geelong Hockey Association and its clubs up for a super 2023 season.

We have concluded week 1 of our 3 week Roadshows program, with thanks to Hockey Victoria for their support in providing a Participation Officer (our own Rachel Moon) to lead the hockey sessions in local primary schools.

Week 1 saw visits to schools in the Torquay area – Armstrong Creek School, Torquay College, Anglesea Primary School, Lisieux Catholic School and Bellbrae Primary School. With over 670 students participating in this first week, the assistance of Torquay Hockey Club members Sam Jackway and Puck Klaassen was much appreciated.

Week 2 is underway with visits to Lara Lake Primary School, South Geelong Primary School, Lethbridge Primary School, Chilwell Primary School and Highton Primary School rounding out the week.

Week 3 will see visits to Newtown Primary School, Teesdale Primary School and Roslyn Primary School.

Invitation to Hookin2Hockey

The 1500 students who participate in these hockey sessions at school will be invited to Come and Try hockey, at one of the 5 Hookin2Hockey programs operating in the Geelong area. The first session is free to try and equipment is provided, so it’s a great way for boys and girls aged 5 to 12 to have a go at hockey!

Bring your children and along and invite your neighbours and family members to join one of these programs – or anyone you know!  Help us spread the word about what a great game hockey is, and let’s get more people playing hockey. Don’t forget – Geelong is the home of the 2026 Commonwealth Games hockey tournament!
